Hurray! 1st signing of the season!
Bring on the 20 a season striker, the two decent central defenders and someone to replace Kev "Let's score one goal and then go out injured for six months" Lisbie.

Here I am, awake!!!

Yes, USA, Pennsylvania.

Sorry for all the things going on with your dad. Maybe he will be hulk-like, well not Green. I don't want him green, nor do you I'm sure.

So do you have lighting bugs? June bugs? They light up. Duh.

Oh btw, my birthday is this month!!!!

Hi R, feel free to ask me anything in Charbs comments, I'll answer them as best I can.

What is a septic? Was I to be offended?

Hi cheryl

PA, big state, which side. Philly or Pittsburg ?.

Septic is good old cockney rhyming slang. Septic Tank - Yank.
Sorry it's not the most pleasant choice of words !.

I am an hour west of Philly, a little over 2 from NYC.

you?

Btw ( by the way ) Very little offends me : )

June Bugs?
We don't get anything like that here, maybe out in the countryside somewhere but not in London.

Charby said...

In fact I googled it as I have nothing else to do and I can say that we have absolutely nothing like that here.

When exactly is your birthday Cheryl?
You paying for us all to come out there and PARTY?!!!
LOL!

the 26th.

I can't afford to get myself over there, how the hell can I get you and Flash and now R over here?

Start swimming...towards the Statue of Liberty. Hyde can get you to me from there....I'm guessing : )

Swimming!?
I gotta better idea! I have a blow-up dinghy here and I live by the river, so I'll steal some oars and start paddling!
I'm sure i'll be there by this time next year!

Morning Charby

Bit early for you I know.

So you've got a blow up dinghy to sail across the pond.

I've got a blow up doll, I think it will be ok to follow you as the instructions do mention seamen quite a lot !!.

I thought long and hard about the above but after wrestling with my conscience decided I now know you well enough to post it. I await your response !.

Charby said...

I'm not too sure about the merits of blowup dolls vs dinghys, I suppose it has some benefits over the newly-christened HMS Charby, but I reckon my boat would win in a paddling race over the doll!
And where would you store the provisions for such an epic trip...?

I have a cunning plan to beat you and you oar powered vessel.

I would get myself and blow up doll down to Southampton docks, seek out an old Panamaian rust bucket sailing for the States, and in exchange for free passage I would offer unlimited use of said blow up doll to the sex starved crew. May even charge an hourly rate thereby arriving at Cheryls birthday party flush with beer tokens and ready to impress the colonials with my ready wit and humour.
Meanwhile you'll be bobbing up and down on the high seas and may even be picked up by the same old Panamanian rust bucket on it's return leg. And remember they won't have the doll, so be prepared to work your passage back to good old blighty.

Does a very heavy rowboat qualify as a hunky dory?

If it has a bell is it a ringy dinghy?

Alrighty....R...I'm confused on how you know I am a Mellencamp fan, the only thing I can think of is you have read up on me in my previous blog?? Is this the case??

You're right, I clicked on your name and up popped some details. I'm realy impressed with myself on how quickly I'm slippimng into this posting lark.
The only US sport I like is the football.
I really liked the Bills team 90/94. Jim Kelly (classy guy), Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith Cornelius Bennett, great team to watch.
Really upset about Scott Norwoods 'wide right', and 2 of the other bowls that were very one sided.
I spent a bit of time in upstate New York a few years ago and met several Bills fans whilst enjoying the local hostelries. Good people.
However, my American Football team is the Green Bay Packers. My desk at work has several pictures of Brett Favre.(along with lots of Charlton related pics of course)
Green Bay are playing at Buffalo in a pre season game in August.
I will be making a now annual pilgrimage to Lambeau in November for the Steelers game.Green Bay is such a great football and drinking town.
Ss you can see from my previous post to Charby, it looks unlikely she will be attending your birthday bash as she may well be entertaining the entire crew of a Panamanian merchant ship. Who knows, she may even be looking forward to it.

But R the sailors would be so sex starved that they've destroyed the blow up doll, with their... erm... over-enthusastic attentions and are now turning their notice to you, where as I'll be arriving at Cheryl's party with just knackered arms from rowing, you'll be walking bow-legged, and that's if the sailors have let you go, they might wanna keep you as their personal sex slave.

Cheryl - You really need to explain American Football to me.

And R, where exactly are you from? I'm dying of curiosity

The same thought had crossed my mind. I may just have to charge a higher hourly rate, and not let on that i'm actually enjoing said attention.
So you see, I'm in a win/win situation !!.

As for personal details, I've already given you John Mellancamp, the Green Bay Packers and that I'm a regular visitor to the colonies.

The last ones for today are:

I was brought up in Eltham, and when I left home, moved to Sidcup.

From what I gather from your posts, do you live near the Blackheath Standard/Sun in the Sands Pubs ?.

Let me know about the Packers/Bills game, we can go together. LOL

You're going to have to read a little slower !!.
I know one of the main characteristics of you colonials is an incredibly short attention span, (i bet you had a little break reading this sentence). But it's the Packers/Steelers game I'm going to.
I was trying to remember the small place we stayed in where we had a great night talking to Bills fans.
It was Fulton, a short way from Oswego.
Were you born near Buffalo ?

"Green Bay are playing at Buffalo in a pre season game in August."

I read it right, I took it as an invitation. LOL.

I guess I was still stuck on all the blow up doll conversation and that is why I lacked complete concentration. Sorry....*drifting away again*

I was born near Buffalo. About 20 minutes outside of it. Next time you are upstate, go to Ted's Hotdogs!

No more details on me : ) I have revealed too much already.

Charby said...

I do live near there, inbetween the shops on Shooters Hill Road and the Fox on The Hill Pub (Hungry Horse) If you know them?
